Team Hampton is getting into the festive spirit earlier than usual this year as we take part in a Christmas fundraising tree auction in aid of local children’s charity, The ARCHIE Foundation.
As part of our sponsorship package, we will be decorating a nine ft Christmas tree, which will be on display – along with nine other trees – at Aberdeen’s Marischal College Atrium from Thursday, November 29.
All 10 trees will then be sold off during an auction taking place online for a week from Monday, November 23, with all funds raised going to the charity.
ARCHIE, which supports the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, has secured sponsorship from organisations such as TEXO, Mackie’s, Tendeka and Aberdeen Football Club, as well as Hampton.
Local business, TAC Healthcare will also have a rainbow tree to say thank you to the NHS, while ARCHIE is decorating a memory/message of hope tree. These two trees will not be sold at auction and will remain on display at Marischal Square throughout December.
Lynne Brooks, ARCHIE’s gifts & donations officer, said: “It’s been well documented that the third sector has been significantly impacted since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
“At ARCHIE specifically we have seen an increase in emergency financial grants to families, while our bereavement service has experienced a 26% increase in referrals this year.
“It’s therefore even more important than ever that we raise as much funds as we can to support babies, children, families, and the NHS across the North-east while these challenging times continue.”
Hampton head of strategy, Nikki Morris-Laing, who is leading our decorating efforts said: “The ARCHIE Foundation provides such fantastic support to sick children and their families in the region, and we fully appreciate how tough it must be at this time fundraising to pay for the services they provide.
“So we leapt at the chance to sponsor one of their Christmas trees. What better way to help raise much-needed funds than doing something that brings our team together and lets us kick off the festive season earlier than we might usually be allowed!
“We’re all really looking forward to seeing all the other trees fully decorated, especially the one by The Christmas Decorators. We’re in no doubt it is going to be absolutely stunning! Here’s hoping someone pays a lot for ours too at auction.”
Services also supported by The ARCHIE Foundation include the Neonatal Ward Aberdeen and the Grampian Child Bereavement Network.
