Formed in 2017, Aberdeen Comedy Festival (AICF) brought funny to the Granite City. In a short time, the festival had drawn big names to Aberdeen’s comedy scene. AICF required an identity refresh to make the festival stand up to its big names.
Creating a Playful Brand
The objective was to create a new look and feel for the brand and this really was no laughing matter…
The new look brand was to appeal to comedy fans and bring a sense of community to the festival. The logo was revisited and was formed with the use of a playful brush stroke component. The strokes then became the graphic device for the entire brand.
The colour palette was amplified to represent the energy and vibrancy of the festival events within the city.
Having completed the rebrand, we worked in partnership with the Aberdeen Inspired team, who led the project, to roll out the festival campaign to bring awareness to the city. Posters, social media assets & programmes were all created and distributed.
It's time to stand out & stand up
An identity that matches up to outstanding comics and performers. The new creative was launched across the 2019 festival.
The results this year were bigger than ever before with more than 50 comedians performing, a massive 42% increase in sales against the previous year, 10,000 attendees and a record 11 sold-out shows.
Hampton produced a strong brand to help reposition the comedy festival; they delivered a fresh, fun and modern visual identity that reflected the festival's growth. We were really pleased and this year we achieved record results in terms of ticket sales and audience numbers, which the new brand had a direct impact on.
