A relationship built on longevity
Sun & Ssukgat
Our partnerships with publishers stretch back volumes. So we know every book and every author is different. And this is an exercise in listening as much as designing. Giving form to the author’s dream. Understanding and amplifying their story.
The author here, Michelle Jungmin Bang, sought us out. Having seen our back catalogue, in particular our work for best selling author Meik Wiking, she wanted us to bring her vision to life. A book, literally centuries in the making. Applying ancient Korean lifestyle customs to modern living. Generational knowledge shared for a healthier, calmer and more sustainable lifestyle for all. Michelle takes the reader on a cultural and visual journey across Korea. Imparting age-old advice for contemporary living. The perfect blend of design, tradition and modernity.
Natural, effective, and environmentally conscious, Michelle’s ideas and solutions quietly and radically shift conventional Western thought. As we have quietly and methodically helped her realise her dream. It was a harmonious partnership built on trust between author, HarperCollins and Hampton. Written and illustrated by Michelle, concept brought to life by us. The end. Or is it?
Sun & Ssukgat - a story of creativity and collaboration.
Hampton Agency immediately understood the vision behind Sun & Ssukgat, then delivered sophisticated creativity to this book, in which the design and illustrations eventually became as important as the words. In particular, I worked closely with Susan Montgomery and Kara Adamson, who were an absolute joy to work with and true professionals who delivered the highest level of work possible, even within tight timeframes. The team delightfully brought forth many ideas that I had not thought of and brought the book’s concepts strikingly to life. I loved every second of working with this incredible team!! I would recommend Hampton Agency in a heartbeat!
